Primary emphasis in initiating contact with major donors, leaders in businesses and churches to cultivate relationships and partnerships, guiding through opportunities for both volunteer and financial support for the work of the Mission. Looking to grow a passion in the hearts and minds of these contacts by guiding them step by step in understanding what we do and how they can become involved; develops partnerships to carry the effort on our behalf, where their excitement grows and expands to their connections.
Assumes the lead responsibility for the Planned Gift Program including promotion, cultivation, solicitation, appreciation, and on-going administration in a timely and professional manner.
Assures continued contact with established major donors in order to cultivate continued and increased giving. Researches through our communications network and identifies potential new donors for the purpose of educating and establishing a donor relationship.
Through visits, phone calls, thank you notes, emails and other appropriate actions, conveys, on behalf of staff and guests, sincere thankfulness to our donors and encourages a heart of compassion for those we serve. Maintains an effective record and acknowledgment system using the Raiser’s Edge software.
Assists with the ministry’s needs in the area of key donor correspondence, promotional materials and other marketing ideas necessary to sustain the fundraising efforts for the needs of the ministry.
Serves as a visible spokesperson and advocate for the Mission and its programs in the funding community.
Works collaboratively with Manager of Communications in special events, especially ones where major donors, businesses and churches are primary targets.

Job Requirements
Provides a Biblically-sound testimony of having accepted Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and leads a life worthy of that profession. Actively engages in private and corporate prayer, Bible Study, regular church attendance, and holy living.
Agrees with and carries out responsibilities in accordance with the Mission’s policies that are included in the Bethesda Mission Directives, the Bethesda Mission Code of Conduct, the Bethesda Mission Statement of Faith, Value Statement and Narratives, and the Mission Statement.
Committed to serving the poor and homeless.
Presents a history of stable and responsible employment with experience networking with high profile professionals and entrepreneurs with a successful track record of cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift prospects.
A Bachelor’s Degree is preferred with a combination of 3-5 years’ experience of management responsibilities in fundraising, marketing, or non-profit management.
Exhibits spiritual maturity and a heart of compassion and caring toward the homeless and hurting, and is passionate about ministering life transformation in a multi-ethnic urban ministry setting.
Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication and team building skills portraying a professional, business-like demeanor and a consistent witness for Jesus Christ. Possesses the ability to work effectively with others in a positive, cooperative manner. Must have ability to remain extremely confidential regarding donor gifts.
Works independently with minimal direct supervision toward meeting assigned responsibilities and overall goals. Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Requires computer knowledge with familiarity with Microsoft and Raiser’s Edge.
Possesses ability and willingness to travel and network often within Harrisburg and surrounding areas.
